Acusphere announced that it entered into an agreement to license its Hydrophobic Drug Delivery System(TM) (HDDS) for oncology applications, as well as its product AI-850 to Cephalon for $10 million.

HDDS(TM) converts water insoluble drugs into microparticles or nanoparticles of the drug embedded in small microspheres, such that the drug can more rapidly dissolve in water.

AI-850(TM) is the initial product candidate utilizing Acusphere’s HDDS(TM) technology, and it is a readily dissolving formulation of paclitaxel.
