Nektar Therapeutics announced that it terminated all discussions with potential partners for its inhaled insulin programs, and that it will cease all spending associate with these programs.
The latest data reported by Pfizer regarding Exubera(R) from an ongoing clinical trial showed an increase in the number of lung cancer cases compared to the placebo group.
Nektar and Pfizer had been partners on Exubera(R) from 1995 until October 2007, when Pfizer decided to discontinue the marketing of the product (see also news on November 13, 2007).
