Oramed Pharmaceuticals, Inc. has launched pre-clinical trials of ORMD 0901 for diabetes management.

 

ORMD 0901 belongs to the incretin diabetes management drug. A polypeptide drug for diabetes, which to date has only been available in injection form, ORMD 0901 is being offered in a GLP1-analog program, in an oral dosage form.

Trials for ORMD 0901 are to be conducted at Hadassah University Medical Center, and are expected to conclude by December 2008. Phase 2B trials of ORMD 0801, an oral insulin capsule are to be launched in India in the spring of 2009. The company’s technology is based on over 25 years of research by top research scientists at Jerusalem’s Hadassah Medical Center. The company’s corporate and R&D headquarters are based in Jerusalem.
Oramed’s patented flagship product is an orally ingestible insulin capsule currently in phase 2 clinical trials.
