SurModics, Inc. announced the purchase of the CodeLink(TM) Activated Slide microarray business from GE Healthcare.

 

The company, a leading provider of surface modification and drug delivery technologies to the healthcare industry, plans to strengthen their in vitro technologies business through this move by offering a wider range of products, consistent with their diversification growth initiative.

This purchase facilitates the company's activity as the slides, when used in conjunction with SurModics' PhotoLink(R) technology, create a three-dimensional matrix allowing the attachment of biomolecules (including DNA, RNA and proteins) to form microarrays.

SurModics partners with medical device, pharmaceutical and life science companies to develop and commercialize innovative products including: drug delivery technologies, surface modification coating technologies and components for in vitro diagnostic test kits and specialized surfaces for cell culture and microarrays. Current efforts include innovations in treatment of retinal disease the drug-eluting coronary stent.
